Biography:

Franz Lactanz Firmian was a Austrian artist, collector, and patron. He was the nephew of Archbishop Leopold Anton Freiherr von Firmian. Firmian studied at the Benedictine University in Salzburg and served as a private advisor, Obersthofmeister, and Kämmerer to his uncle. He was a supporter of many artists from Trentino in Salzburg, including painter Peter Anton Lorenzoni. Firmian's art collection was one of the largest and most valuable in Salzburg, featuring works by Tizian, Rubens, Rembrandt, Guido Reni, and Veronese. He also had a large collection of artist portraits and natural history specimens.
