Fujiwara Chikanobu was a Japanese painter and printmaker who was widely regarded as a prolific woodblock artist during the Edo epoch. He was born in Edo, Japan in the 18th century and died in 1852. He is known for his ukiyo-e style paintings and prints, which often depict kabuki actors, geisha, sumo wrestlers, and other elements of everyday urban culture. He used several other names: Fujiwara Andō (藤原 安道), Kohensai (湖辺斎) and others; his common name was Kiheiji (喜平治). He was a pupil of Miyagawa Chōshun (1682–1752), who, in turn, was influenced by the works of Hishikawa Moronobu. Like many ukiyo-e artists, Chikanobu also produced a number of shunga, paintings of erotic scenes.
