Biography:
Georges Chanot I was a French violin maker born in Mirecourt in 1801. He was a prominent maker and businessman in the world of violin making, alongside J.B. Vuillaume. Chanot worked with his brother in Mirecourt before moving to Paris, where he established his own workshop. He was known for his collaboration with other makers such as Marie-Joseph Chardon, Guillaume Charles Louis Gand, Joseph Dominique Lété, Georges II, Charles Maucotel, and Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume. Chanot's work is highly regarded for its craftsmanship and tonal qualities. He died in 1873.
