Georges Liautaud was a Haitian sculptor born in Croix-des-Bouquets in 1899 and died in 1991. He is known for his iron sculptures inspired by Vaudou, which he created using a technique called bosmétal. This technique involves cutting and hammering used oil drums to give them a new life as works of art. Liautaud's work has been recognized by famous art critics such as André Malraux, Selden Rodman, and Jean-Marie Drot. He is considered an emblematic figure of Haitian art.
