Biography:
Giovanni Costetti, also known as Giannetto Costetti, was an Italian painter, engraver, and poet born in Reggio Emilia in 1874. He studied at the Scuola fiorentina del Nudo under Giovanni Fattori and was a contemporary of artists such as Oscar Ghiglia, Ardengo Soffici, Armando Spadini, Giuseppe Graziosi, and Beatrice Ancillotti Goretti. Costetti was known for his portraits, including those of his wife Mai Sewell Costetti and his mother-in-law Anne Cathrine Aschehoug. He passed away in Settignano in 1949.
