Giovanni Ricordi (1785-1853) was an Italian musician, composer, and music publisher. He was born in Milan, Italy, and founded the music publishing company Casa Ricordi in 1808. Ricordi's company became one of the most important music publishers in the world, representing the work of many major 19th-century Italian composers such as Gioachino Rossini, Gaetano Donizetti, Vincenzo Bellini, Giuseppe Verdi, and Giacomo Puccini. Ricordi was also a composer in his own right, writing primarily for the guitar. He died in Milan in 1853.
