Biography:
Girolamo Ruscelli was an Italian mathematician, cartographer and writer active during the Renaissance period. He is best known for his work on geography and mapmaking, as well as his translations of classical texts into Italian. Born in Viterbo, Italy in 1518, he lived and worked in various cities throughout his life before settling in Venice where he died in 1566.
