Biography:
Gordon de la Mothe is an artist, writer, and art teacher born in Carriacou, Grenada in 1933. He moved to Luton, England in 1958 and witnessed a series of events that influenced his art and activism. De la Mothe's work often explores concepts of racialised beauty, sexuality, and race relations. In 1993, he published 'Reconstructing the Black Image'. He returned to live in Grenada in the 1990s after over 30 years of living in England. De la Mothe was awarded the OBE in 2015 for his services to art on the Commonwealth island of Grenada, West Indies, his birthplace.
