Biography:

Graziano Pompili was born in Fiume, Italy in 1943. He studied at the Istituto Statale d'Arte per la Ceramica di Faenza and the Istituto d'Arte Gaetano Chierici in Reggio Emilia. He then focused on etching in Bologna. Since 1970, he has been living and working in Carrara, where he works with marble. Pompili has taught ceramics and modeling at the Gaetano Chierici School of Art in Reggio Emilia, marble sculpturing at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, and has been a professor of sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. He has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Pompili's work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and the Tate Gallery in London, among others.
