Biography:
Taishi Hatayama is a Japanese painter born in Kanagawa, Japan in 1992. He completed his MFA in painting at Tama Art University in 2017. Hatayama explores the idea of the unseen 'atmosphere' and 'presence' that we feel in places of nature, and attempts to turn these invisible elements into visible forms in his paintings. He is known for his vivid and detailed depictions of natural landscapes, often with a sense of mystery and the unknown. Hatayama has had several solo exhibitions, including 'Astray in Time' at Sezon Art Gallery and 'Close to Time, Close to Space' at EUKARYOTE. He has also participated in group exhibitions such as 'para nature' at EUKARYOTE and 'Primordial Perception' at EUKARYOTE. Hatayama's work has been recognized with awards such as the Contemporary Art Foundation of Japan's inaugural CAF Prize while still a student at Tama Art University. He is currently based in Tokyo, Japan.
