Biography:

Hilmi Johandi is a Singaporean artist born in 1987. He works primarily with painting and explores interventions with various media to pursue ideas of image-making. Hilmi is a recipient of the Singapore Young Artist Award in 2018. His artistic practice draws on archival footage, old films, and other imagery produced for mass consumption, refiguring the iconography of Singapore and our collective memory. Hilmi Johandi currently works and lives in Singapore.
