Biography:
Ivan Aïvazovski, also known as Hovhannes Aivazian, was a Ukrainian-born Armenian Romantic painter. He is considered one of the greatest marine artists of all time. Aïvazovski was born in Feodosia, Crimea, and studied art in Simferopol and Saint Petersburg. He traveled extensively throughout his life, visiting countries such as Italy, France, and Turkey. Aïvazovski's paintings often depicted the sea and seascapes, and he was known for his ability to capture the mood and atmosphere of the ocean. He was also a prolific painter, creating over 6,000 works during his lifetime. Aïvazovski died in Feodosia in 1900.
