Hugo McCloud is an American visual artist born in Palo Alto, California in 1980. He is known for his use of unconventional materials such as black tar, bitumen, aluminum sheeting, oxidized steel plates, and plastic bags, which he fuses with conventional pigment and woodblock printing techniques. McCloud's work often references photographs of people in developing countries and explores themes such as economy of labor, geopolitics, and environmental issues. He currently lives and works between Mexico and the United States.
