Biography:

Made Wianta (20 December 1949 – 13 November 2020) was an Indonesian artist who was concerned with social and cultural changes and social issues. He has been described as one of his country's best known artists. Wianta studied at the school of fine art in Denpasar and The Indonesian Academy of Fine Art in Yogyakarta. He often worked across different mediums and modalities, including painting, sculpture, and installation. His work is characterized by its use of bright colors, geometric shapes, and a combination of traditional Indonesian and contemporary Western influences. Wianta's art has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the National Gallery of Indonesia, the Singapore Art Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He has also received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to the art world, including the prestigious Indonesian Art Award in 2000.
