Biography:
Ian Waldron is a Queensland-born artist whose work has been included in the Archibald Prize, Wynne Prize and Dobell Prize. He was the winner of the Open Painting category in the 12th National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award. Waldron studied Visual Arts at the Northern Territory University in the mid-1990s. He is a prolific artist and his work pays tribute to the stories of the Kurtjar people from his homeland of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Ian has exhibited extensively since 1995 and has been selected three times as a finalist in The Wynne Prize at the Art Gallery of NSW. His work is represented in public and private collections and he has been awarded numerous commissions, residencies, and grants during his career.
