Ignazio Gaetano Boncompagni-Ludovisi was born on June 18, 1743, in Rome, Italy. He was the son of Gaetano I Boncompagni Ludovisi, Prince of Piombino and Duke of Sora, and Laura Chigi, of the princes of Farnese. Ignazio Gaetano Boncompagni-Ludovisi died in 1823.
