Ilya Gaponov is a contemporary Russian painter born in 1981 in Kemerovo, an industrial mining town in the Novosibirsk region. He is known for his evocative and dynamic compositions that often blend elements of realism and abstraction. His style is characterized by bold brushstrokes, vibrant color palettes, and a keen attention to detail. Gaponov's monumental and intensely detailed paintings are created with bitumen and other materials. He graduated from the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris in 2004 and from the Mukhina Academy of Art and Design in the Department of Monumental Art in St. Petersburg. Gaponov's works have been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art in St. Petersburg.
