Biography:
Imhathai Suwatthanasilp is a Thai artist born in Bangkok in 1981. She is known for using human hair as the main material to create her artworks. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Thai Arts with 2nd Class Honors, and her Master’s degree in Thai Arts from Silpakorn University. In 2016, she was invited to Ketemu Project’s artist in residency program for the project ‘Merayakan Murni’. She has exhibited her work in several galleries and biennales, including the Bangkok Art Biennale and the Biennale of Sydney. Her iconic style is to transform human hair into sculptures, but she also works with other mediums such as drawing and light boxes. Her series of drawings have content and inspiration from nature and traditional Thai culture.
