It was established by Dmitry Ivanovich Vinogradov in 1744 and was supported by the Russian tsars since Empress Elizabeth. The factory was renamed to its current name in 1918 after the Russian Revolution. It is known for producing high-quality porcelain with intricate designs and has been a leading manufacturer of ceramics in Russia for over two centuries.
