Biography:

Isabel Quintanilla was a Spanish visual artist born in Madrid in 1938. She was the daughter of José Antonio Quintanilla, a Spanish Republican commandant killed by the fascists in the franquist concentration camp of Valdenoceda. Quintanilla entered the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes in 1953 and graduated six years later. In 1960, she received a scholarship and became an illustration intern at Instituto Beatriz Galindo. She married the sculptor Francisco López the same year. In 1982, she was granted a Bachelor of Fine Arts by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Quintanilla died on 24 October 2017 at the age of 79. Her paintings usually portray still life, describing simple objects and views from everyday life, as well as landscape paintings.
