Biography:
Jaber Al Azmeh is a Syrian photographer based in Doha, Qatar. He was born in Damascus in 1973 and graduated with a visual communications degree from the University of Damascus. Al Azmeh has taught photography at the IUST University in Damascus and has exhibited his work in various places including the Atassi Gallery in Damascus and the Green Gallery in Dubai. His most recent project, Journal, involves photographing Syrian head figures and others from abroad. He is also known for his photographs of the popular Syrian Newspaper 'Al Baath' while holding the newspaper upside down with a strong noun or verb written on it in bold font. Al Azmeh has participated in several group exhibitions in Damascus and throughout Europe. His work often focuses on the social landscape of Syria, particularly during the Syrian revolution.
