Kendell Geers is a South African conceptual artist who lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. He was born in Johannesburg in 1968 and began his artistic career as a member of the anti-apartheid movement. Geers' work often explores themes of violence, power, and resistance, and he frequently uses materials associated with state control and repression, such as razor wire, broken glass, and gunshots. He is also known for his use of autobiographical elements in his work, including his experiences as a white Afrikaner during the apartheid era. Geers has exhibited widely in Europe, the United States, and South Africa, and his work is held in numerous public and private collections.
