Biography:

Jacobus Johannes Lauwers (1753-1800) was a Flemish painter. He was born in Bruges and died in Amsterdam. He was a pupil of the painter Hendrik Joseph Antonissen. He became known for his genre paintings and portraits. He was the teacher of Johannes Pieter de Frey and Henricus Franciscus Wiertz.
