Biography:
Jacques-Nicolas Paillot de Montabert was a French painter and art historian born in Troyes, France in 1771 and died in the same city in 1849. He painted scenes related to the rule of Napoleon I and is famous for the painting of Napoleon's Mamluk bodyguard, Roustam, painted in 1806. He was also an art historian and wrote a monumental Traité complet de la peinture in 1829.
