Jan Gerritsz. Van Bronckhorst, also known as Bronchorst or Bronkhorst, was a Dutch Golden Age painter and engraver. He is considered today to be a minor member of the Utrecht Caravaggisti. According to Arnold Houbraken, Jan Gerritsz. Van Bronckhorst apprenticed as an eleven-year-old with the glass engraver Verburgh in Utrecht. He worked with him for 6 months and then with two other painters before becoming a pupil of Abraham Bloemaert.
was born in 1603 in the Netherlands. He became a member of the Utrecht Guild of St. Luke in 1629 and was its dean in 1637. He married Maria van Utrecht in 1632 and had five children. Jan Gerritsz. Van Bronckhorst was a friend of Jan Both and Gerard van Honthorst, both prominent Dutch Golden Age painters.
