Biography:

Gail Stepanek and Jan Hutchison are two artists who have been collaborating on quilts since 2005. They have won numerous awards for their work, including Best of Show at AQS QuiltWeek in Grand Rapids in 2022 and the Handi Quilter Best Movable Machine Workmanship Award at AQS QuiltWeek in Paducah in 2024. Their quilts have also been featured in The Quilt Show and on the Google Arts & Culture platform. Stepanek's interest in quilting began in the early 1980s, but it wasn't until 2001 that she became interested in competing. Hutchison, on the other hand, became interested in quilting in 2005 after attending a large quilt show. The two artists met through their shared interest in quilting and have been working together ever since. Their collaborative process involves Stepanek designing and piecing the quilt tops, while Hutchison quilts and finishes the pieces. Together, they have created a number of stunning quilts that have been recognized for their exceptional craftsmanship and artistry.
