Jean-Baptiste Sambat was a French Old Masters artist who was born in the Circa 1760. He was a specialist of the portrait miniature art. He was born in Lyon, France, and died in Paris. He accompanied in qualité de secrétaire the marquis de Mirabeau dans ses voyages en Allemagne et en Angleterre, au cours desquels il réalisa plusieurs portraits miniatures de son maître. Revenu à Paris le 14 juillet 1790, il y exerça les fonctions de contrôleur des impositions et fut domicilié rue Saint-Lazare. He is known for Painting and sculpture.
