Biography:
Jan Baptist van der Hulst, also known as Jean-Baptiste Van der Hulst, was a Flemish painter and lithographer born in Leuven, Belgium in 1790. He died in Brussels in 1862. Van der Hulst painted numerous members of the royal family of the Netherlands and was known for his work in history painting. He made a name for himself as a portraitist and was the hofschilder (court painter) of the Dutch Royal House from 1830 to 1849.
