Biography:
Jean-Philippe Worth was a French couturier born in Dieppe, France in 1856 and died in 1926. He was the son of Charles Frederick Worth, the founder of the House of Worth, a French fashion house that specialized in haute couture, ready-to-wear clothes, and perfumes. Jean-Philippe Worth took over the house with his brother Gaston after their father's death in 1895 and made it even more famous, modernizing it into the 1900’s style. He was known for his unique special-event pieces and his robes richely decorated with broderies. He also hired Paul Poiret as a dessinateur to give simpler lines to the creations of the house Worth.
