Jessie Homer French is a self-taught artist born in New York in 1940. She is known for her 'regional narrative paintings' that depict the landscapes of rural California and confront themes of grief, memory, and ecological ruin. Her work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums, including the Hammer Museum and the Biennale Arte 2022. French's paintings often combine realism and mysticism to create narrative scenes of life, death, and nature. She currently lives and works in Mountain Center, California.
