Biography:
Jin-Shi Zhu, also known as Zhu Jinshi, is a Chinese artist born in Beijing in 1954. He is a pioneering figure of Chinese abstract painting and installation art, known for his colorful abstractions with densely applied oil paint and highly sculptural surfaces. Zhu Jinshi began creating abstract paintings in the early 1980s and moved to Berlin in 1986, where he continued to develop his artistic practice. He has exhibited his work in numerous galleries and museums, including Tang Contemporary Art, Beijing; Blum & Poe, Los Angeles; and the White Rabbit Gallery, Sydney.
