Biography:

John Edward Odoch Ameny, also known as John Odoch'Ameny, is a Ugandan sculptor born in 1960 in Lira. He is one of Africa's most prolific artists and has taught many of East Africa's leading sculptors. Odoch'Ameny was the Sculptor in Residence at African Heritage in the 1980s. He is known for his tactile art, which is an extension of his forearms. His sculptures often represent Africa and are made from recycled steel. Odoch'Ameny has exhibited his work in various galleries, including the African Heritage House and the Smithsonian Institution. He follows in the footsteps of his father, Prof John Edward Odoch Ameny, who was also a sculptor and taught at the Makerere University School of Fine Arts.
