Biography:

John Harrington was an English Elizabethan courtier, translator, author, and wit who also invented the flush toilet. He is known for his work A New Discourse of a Stale Subject, called the Metamorphosis of Ajax (1596), which describes a flush-toilet forerunner installed in his Kelston house.
