Biography:

John McNamara is an American artist who was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1950. He graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art in 1971 with a BFA in painting and in 1977 with an MFA. He began teaching painting at the college level in 1975. He is known for his abstract and expressionist paintings. His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States, including the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Museum of Modern Art. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his work, including being named the 'Manager of the Year' by the BBWAA and The Sporting News in 1986. He currently lives and works in California.
