Biography:
John Somerset Murray was a British photographer and inventor, born in 1904 in the United Kingdom. He was a grandson of John Murray, calotypist of India, and cousin of the portraitist Olive Edis. Murray opened his own portrait studio in Chelsea in 1933 and largely worked on advertising. Shortly afterwards, he turned to commercial photography, specializing in architectural and industrial subjects. He died in 1975.
