Biography:
Jorge Vieira was a Portuguese sculptor born on November 18, 1922, in Lisbon. He studied architecture and later sculpture at the Escola de Belas-Artes de Lisboa, finishing his studies in 1953. In 1954, he was admitted to the Slade School of Fine Arts in London. Vieira's work is characterized by its simplicity and abstraction, often using materials such as stone or bronze. He participated in numerous exhibitions throughout his career and received several awards for his contributions to Portuguese art. Jorge Vieira passed away on July 24, 1998, in Évora.
