Joseph Daniel Von Huber, also known as Johann Rudolf Huber, was a prominent Swiss portrait artist born in Basel, Switzerland in 1668. He learned to paint in Bern, Venice, and Rome, and his artistic skills were further refined during his time in these cities.
In 1699, Von Huber was appointed court painter at the court in Stuttgart, where he created numerous portraits of his contemporaries. Among his famous subjects were Charles III William, Margrave of Baden-Durlach, Joseph I, Holy Roman Emperor, and Albrecht von Haller.
