Joseph-Alexandre Boichard, also known as Joseph Boichard, was a French artist born in 1833 in La Grand’Combe-des-Bois, Doubs, France. He was an employee of commerce and a communard. He was married and had two children. Boichard was known for his paintings. The Maison Devambez, a fine printer's firm in Paris, recognized as one of the foremost fine engravers in Paris, won numerous medals and honors with his works. Boichard's works were also exhibited in the Frick Collection and Frick Art Reference Library in New York City.
