Biography:
Georges Redon, also known as Jules Georges Redon, was a French artist born in Paris in 1869 and died in 1943. He was a painter, illustrator, caricaturist, lithographer, engraver, and affichist. He was made a knight of the Legion of Honor. He was known for his illustrations in various French and English newspapers and magazines, and for his posters in the Art Nouveau style. He opened his own lithographic workshop in 1897. He was also a painter of Parisian life, especially of Montmartre, where he lived all his life. He was a prolific artist and left a large body of work.
