Biography:
Mogens Kølkjær is a Danish artist known for his work as a graphic designer and painter. He was born on May 20th, 1941 in Gjellerup, Herning Municipality, Denmark. His full name before changing it to Mogens Kølkjær in 1970 was Kølkjær Nielsen. His parents were Smed Niels Kølkjær and Astrid Kølkjær. He studied at the Kunsthåndværkerskolen from 1959 to 1963, followed by studies at the Kunstakademiet's Malerskole under the tutelage of Sven Hjorth Nielsen between 1964 and 1974. He also studied at the Grafisk Skole and completed a course in art education at the Kunstpædagogisk Skole. Kølkjær's work has been exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally. His works are held in numerous public collections including Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK) in Copenhagen.
