Biography:

Kaneko Tohta was a Japanese writer. He studied at the University of Tokyo and worked for the Bank of Japan. Kaneko received several prizes, including the Dakotsu Prize (2002), Cikada Prize (2005), Person of Cultural Merit (2008), Kikuchi Kan Prize (2010), and Asahi Prize (2015). He was awarded the Grand Prize at the Masaoka Shiki International Haiku Awards in 2008. Kaneko died on February 20, 2018, at the age of 98.
