Biography:

Kang Hyung Koo is a Korean contemporary painter best known for his intense, larger-than-life oeuvres of historical icons, including Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, Abraham Lincoln, and Vincent Van Gogh. His hyper-realistic portraits of famous people and everyday people are created by hand, down to the smallest detail. Kang was born in Gyounggi-do, South Korea in 1955. He studied at the College of Fine Arts at Seoul National University and has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in South Korea and internationally. Kang's work is held in the collections of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, the Seoul Museum of Art, and the Gwangju Museum of Art, among others.
