Biography:
Karl Hayd (1882 - 1945) was an Austrian artist known for his Realist style rural landscape, floral still life, cityscape, and genre paintings. He studied at the Academy of Vienna from 1902 to 1906 and later in Prague. Hayd's work is complex, both technically and in terms of motifs. He produced still lifes with flowers, landscapes, urban views, and genre paintings. During World War I, he worked as a war painter, avoiding heroic exaggerations and instead representing the macabre, murderous, and ghostly aspects of war events. Hayd's work is highly regarded for its technical skill and emotional depth.
