Biography:
Karl Wilhelm Weigle, also known as Karl Ignaz Weigl, was an Austrian composer and pianist born in Vienna, Austria in 1881. He was the son of a bank official who was also a keen amateur musician. Weigl studied music with Alexander Zemlinsky in 1896 and later at the Vienna Music Academy. He became a naturalized American citizen in 1943. Weigl was known for his compositions, which were influenced by the late Romantic tradition. He died in 1949 in the United States.
