Biography:
Cheonae Kim is a Korean artist born in 1952 in Seoul, South Korea. She studied painting, drawing and printmaking at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, where she obtained her Master of Fine Arts in 1986. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Drawing from Ewha Womans University in Seoul. Kim is based in Astoria, NY. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in the United States and Europe, including the Margaret Thatcher Projects in New York, the Ocula Artist platform, the Expose Art Magazine, the Artnet, the Galerie Vazieux in Paris, the MacDowell, and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, MO. Kim's work is part of the permanent collection of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work, including a residency at the MacDowell in 2018.
