Biography:

Krystyna Piotrowska is a Polish visual artist, graphic artist, filmmaker, and curator. She was born in Zabrze, Poland in 1949. Piotrowska studied interior architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow from 1966 to 1972. She then studied graphic design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan and at the Grafikskolan Forum in Malmo, Sweden. Piotrowska's work often explores themes of memory, the passage of time, and the struggle against forgetting. She is best known for her graphic portraits, which she began creating in the 1970s. These works often feature faces and silhouettes that have been cut out and reassembled in new configurations. Piotrowska has also created films, installations, and sculptures, and has curated numerous exhibitions. She currently lives and works in Warsaw, Poland.
