Biography:
Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan (KMVS) is an organization of rural women from the arid border villages of Kutch district, Gujarat, India. It was founded in 1989 by Sushma Iyengar. KMVS has 4000 members, out of which 1200 are active. The organization aims to empower rural women through awareness-raising, ability development, and mobilization into independent local collectives. KMVS has been recognized for its work in promoting women's rights and empowerment, and has received various awards, including the Chameli Devi Jain Award for Outstanding Woman Mediaperson in 2018.
