Parrilla is the daughter of Sam Parrilla, a professional baseball player, and Dolorès Dee Azzara, an artist-peintre. She made her television debut in the late 1990s and has since appeared in various films and television shows, including Spin City, 24, Once Upon a Time, and Why Women Kill. Parrilla has received several awards and nominations for her work, including an ALMA Award win for Outstanding TV Actress - Drama in 2012.
