Biography:
Laurent Amiot was born in Quebec City in 1764, the son of Jean Amiot and Marie-Louise Chrestien. He was a silversmith and is known for his work in silver. He was granted letters of nobility in 1667, but failed to register them prior to King Louis XIV of France abolishing all titles the following year that had not yet been registered. Despite his accomplishments and wealth in land, he left his heirs more debts than one would have imagined. He died in Quebec City.
