Liam Gillick is a British artist born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire in 1964. He is based in New York City and works across diverse forms, including installation, video, and sound. In addition to his art practice, Gillick is also a theorist, curator, and educator. His work often explores the aesthetics of the constructed world and examines the ideological control systems that have emerged along with globalization and neoliberalism. Gillick utilizes materials that resemble everyday built environments, transforming them into minimalist abstractions that deliver commentaries on social constructs. He has had numerous solo exhibitions and his work is held in collections worldwide.
